Nine Mexican directors combine their vision to immerse us in the most brutal, ruthless, and bizarre traditions and legends of our country. “Mexico Barbaro II” offers a visceral journey through stories that have shaped part of our popular culture and collective imagination. The film takes us from sweet and disturbing stories passed down by our grandmothers, through a hybrid between the mouse and the tooth fairy, disturbing witchcraft, the chilling truth behind the legend of La Llorona, to the seduction of the Devil's helpers, the figure of a pagan hero, the story of La Quemada, and culminates in bloody ancestral culinary rites.

 

It is an anthology that demonstrates how these traditions and legends continue to sow terror among Mexicans, revealing the darkest and most fascinating facet of our folklore.
