A moving story of clandestine love between two Catholic seminarians, Jacinto and Mateo, who discover their mutual affection amid the turmoil and brutality of the Cristero War in Mexico. The daily routine of the seminary, their close coexistence, and their hours of study and prayer bring them closer together both physically and emotionally, forging a deep bond. However, their secret relationship is discovered by Cardinal Bonifacio, unleashing a great conflict of faith that, paradoxically, is overshadowed by the violent outbreak of war.

After the seminary is taken over by Calles' federal army, the students and priests are cruelly shot for defending not only their faith and ideals, but also their love before the world, sealing their fate with the cry of “Long live Christ the King!”
